Rockville City officials want to know what residents would like to see at RedGate Park on Avery Road and will hold two community meetings to share plans and receive comments.
The meetings concerning the 131-acre former golf course are set for April 19 at 7 p.m. and April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. The first meeting is virtual, and the second one will be at the park. Residents are encouraged to stop by and view the plans.
So far, residents have suggested leaving it for hiking, walking, running, biking, and fitness training; creating a disc golf course; creating a nature center and/or community meeting area; adding a water play area or an amphitheater, and putting picnic tables and chairs and offering food. Other ideas include putting in housing or a dog park.
Since 2018, when the golf course closed, the area has been used mainly by hikers and birders.
