Rockville Declares Snow Emergency; City Facilities Closed Jan. 6

Rockville City Hall and all city facilities will close Monday, Jan. 6, as a winter storm impacts the region.

In preparation, the city has declared a snow emergency. All vehicles must be removed from city streets by 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5. This measure allows city crews to safely plow roads during and after the storm.

Crews will prioritize primary roads, such as major arterials, emergency routes, and streets near schools, for plowing and treatment. Secondary roads, including neighborhood streets, alleys, and cul-de-sacs, will follow. Residents can confirm their address is within city limits by using the Address and Residency Check map at www.rockvillemd.gov/maps.

Recycling, trash, and yard waste collection is canceled for Monday, Jan. 6. Collections for the rest of the week will occur one day later than usual. More information is available at www.rockvillemd.gov/recycling-trash.

Monday’s Mayor and Council meeting will proceed virtually via Webex and will broadcast on Rockville 11 (channel 11 on county cable). It will also stream live at www.rockvillemd.gov/rockville11 and be available later at www.rockvillemd.gov/videoondemand. Visit the city’s Agenda Center to learn how to join the meeting.

Updates on the storm response, city programs, and facilities will be posted at www.rockvillemd.gov. Residents can also stay informed through Rockville 11, Facebook (City of Rockville Government), and X (formerly Twitter; @Rockville411).
