Rockville Outdoor Pool to Close This Month for Renovations

The City of Rockville will close its outdoor swimming pool at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center on Aug. 16 for renovations, disrupting summer activities but promising a modernized facility for residents.

The renovations will include enhanced accessibility for disabled swimmers and upgraded amenities, according to a city press release.

Built in 1991, the pool will undergo the major renovation after more than 30 years, following a bid awarded by Mayor Monique Ashton and the City Council.

The project is expected to last through May 2025. Other areas of the complex, including the outdoor fitness pool, indoor pools and fitness rooms, will remain open during the construction.
