Spoiler alert about Jeopardy! episode that aired Thursday, Dec. 21
Iris Masucci, a pharmacist from Rockville, lost on Jeopardy! on March 29 but was called back for the show’s Second Chance Tournament. This time she won in an episode that aired Thursday night.
Masucci was in second place trailing by $2700 heading into Final Jeopardy! The clue was:
“The opera based on this 1993 memoir was staged at a prison for the first time in 2023, at Sing Sing with a chorus of 14 inmates.”
None of the three contestants guessed the correct question which was What is Dead Man Walking?
Instead of a real guess, Masucci jokingly wrote “What are the chances of a third chance tournament?” Turns out that would not be necessary.
Masucci wagered $2300 of her $7700 leaving her with $5400. Karen Morris, the leader heading into Final Jeopardy! also wrote a joke question, “What on Earth?” She bet $5001 of her $10,400 which left her with $5399 which meant that Masucci won by $1. She advances to the finals which begin on Friday.
