Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles, 44, of Gaithersburg was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of attempted murder and first- and second-degree assault.
Rockville City Police responded to East Montgomery Avenue on Dec. 14, 2023 following a report that multiple people had been struck by an SUV. The driver did not remain on the scene.
Police believe this was an intention act, and together with the Montgomery County Police Department Report Offenders Unit and the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force, they located Marquez-Aviles in Hyattsville.
Marquez-Aviles is being held without bond pending a hearing for a bond request.
Rockville City Police thanked the public for the numerous tips and their allied agencies for the assistance with the arrest.
