A man is dead after being shot Thursday evening in Rockville, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
At approximately 11:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 14000 Cove Lane. When officers arrived on the scene, they located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound at the intersection of Bradley Avenue and Fletcher Place, police said. Officers provided life-saving measures to the victim at the crime scene until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.
The Rockville City Police Department initially responded to the scene. However, due to the seriousness of the victims injuries, Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division took over the investigation.

Police say this shooting continues to be investigated as a homicide. The identity of the victim will be released after his family is notified.
