Rockville Town Center is officially The Square.
Signs with the new name were up in December, but city officials are getting the new name out following the adoption last month of their master plan.
Rockville Mayor Monique Ashton posted on social media, “Thankful for the renewed energy, businesses, and residents. Rockville Town Square rebrands as ‘The Square.”
The goal of the master plan update is to strengthen the Town Center and brings the area into further alignment with Rockville City climate goals. It also stresses bicycle and pedestrian safety as well as racial equity and social justice.
Town Square will feature a Trader Joe’s where Dawson’s Market was. Construction is ongoing there.
Morguard North American Residential REIT acquired the retail portion of Rockville Town Square in 2022. It already had purchased Fenestra Apartments in 2017.
