The holiday season unofficially kicks off Friday evening with the Rockville Town Square Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The event will take place at the Rockville Town Square from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitors can expect activities such as “Selfies with Santa,” a children’s craft station making wooden ornaments, and themed photo backgrounds throughout the event. Dawn Crafton Dance Connection and King Teddy will be providing local dance and musical performances during the two-and-a-half-hour program.
According to the event’s website, select merchants will also be providing specials during the event, ranging from discounted food and drinks to giveaways. Attendees can expect busier-than-usual parking during the event, however, there have been no announced street closures or parking limitations. Additionally, Rockville Town Square is two blocks from the Red Metro Line for those looking to avoid traffic.
