With all the recent snow, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) ended up using all its allotted snow days off – and then some.
Therefore, the school district has requested a state waiver from the required 180 days of instructional learning to account for its closed day on Feb. 12.
MCPS already elongated the school year one day. The last day now is scheduled as an early release day on Monday, June 16. Friday, June 13 was to be an early release day and is now scheduled as a full instructional day.
MCPS built in two snow days when it created this year’s school calendar. Therefore, the first two snow days do not have to be made up.
Schools and offices were closed on Feb. 12 due to inclement weather. MCPS is seeking a state waiver for the required 180 instructional days. An update on the 2024-2025 calendar will be shared in the coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/ltxqoe7ciq
