During a visit to Silver Spring Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen endorsed Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Ben Cardin.
Cardin announced recently that he would not seek reelection.
Maryland Senators William Smith (D-20), Ben Kramer (D-19) and Jeff Waldstreicher (D-18) as well as Maryland Delegates Jheanelle Wilkins (D-20) and Charlotte Crutchfield (D-19) and Councilmember Dawn Luedtke also have endorsed Alsobrooks.
Councilmember Will Jawando and U.S. Rep. David Trone also have announced their candidacy for Cardin’s seat.
Former Councilmember Kai Hagen endorsed Jawando.

It’s an honor to receive the endorsement of @kaihagen. A tireless public servant, his work in Frederick County has made it a cleaner, safer, more prosperous place to live.
I’m running to achieve those same goals for all of Maryland, and I’m glad to have him on #TeamJawando. pic.twitter.com/W2RFMtLQTx
