Senior PGA Championship Tees Off in Bethesda This May

A little birdie told MCM that Championship golf returns to Montgomery County this spring when the 2025 Senior PGA Championship lands at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda from May 22 to 25.

Maryland will host the Senior PGA Championship for the first time. The event returns to the D.C. region for only the second time. It brings top-tier senior golf to the heart of Montgomery County.

Congressional Country Club will welcome 156 of the world’s top senior golfers. Defending champion Richard Bland will return to compete on the club’s storied Blue Course. Past champions include icons like Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson.

“Congressional Country Club is honored to add the 2025 Senior PGA Championship to the list of prestigious majors held at our club,” said Clay FitzGerald, president of Congressional. “The membership looks forward to showcasing our world-class golf course for fans in the region and across the country.”

What to Expect

The PGA of America began ticket sales in September, with prices starting at $49. Any Day Flex tickets start at $59. Children 15 and under receive free general admission with a ticketed adult. Adults can claim up to four free junior tickets on-site. Active-duty military, veterans, retirees and National Guard members receive free admission along with one guest per day.

Organizers promise more than just golf. The championship will offer a variety of family-friendly experiences throughout the weekend, turning Congressional into a destination for fans of all ages.

The tournament will also deliver a boost to the local economy as golf fans flock to Bethesda and surrounding Montgomery County communities, filling hotels, restaurants and shops during the four-day event.

Congressional, founded in 1924, has built a reputation as one of the premier golf venues in the country. By hosting the Senior PGA Championship, it becomes just the fourth course to host all four traveling men’s majors: the U.S. Open, the U.S. Senior Open, the PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship.

The club’s championship calendar remains busy. It will host the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2027, the PGA Championship in 2030, the Ryder Cup in 2037 and a return of the Senior PGA in 2033.
