Friday, September 20

Fall Fun at the Orchard
Rock Hill Orchard, Mount Airy

Head to Rock Hill Orchard in Mt. Airy for weekends full of fall festivities, running through Oct. 20. Enjoy apple picking, a corn maze and pumpkin picking, along with live demonstrations of cows being milked for the Creamery’s ice cream. Kids can also pet the farm’s calves. Tickets vary by what activity and can be purchased online.
The orchard is located at 28600 Ridge Road in Mount Airy.

Winnie the Pooh
Imagination Stage, Bethesda

The story of everyone’s favorite bear, Winnie the Pooh, comes to life at Imagination Stage. Set during one busy day, there’s a Heffalump to catch Eeyore’s tail to find, and a misunderstanding between Rabbit and Kanga to sort out. In the end, friendship and understanding win the day.  Tickets start at $12. Learn more and purchase tickets online.

Cajun Social Dance Party
Glen Echo Park

Dance to live music by the Pine Leaf Boys Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. Louisiana’s world-renowned Pine Leaf Boys blend the sounds of Cajun, Zydeco, Swamp-Pop, Country, and Soul. The evening starts with a free Cajun dance lesson with Sharon Schiliro and Michael Hart at 7 p.m. Tickets $20 in advance, $25 at the door.  Learn more here.

Saturday, September 21

Burtonsville Day
Marilyn J. Praisner Recreation Center

The annual Burtonsville Day Parade and Festival takes place Saturday, featuring live music, food trucks and activities for children under its “Better Together” theme. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and departs from Paint Branch High School. The festival takes place at the Marilyn J. Praisner Library and Community Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both the parade and festival are free to attend.
The Marilyn J. Praisner Community and Recreation Center is located at 14906 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.

Salsa Dance Lesson
Kensington Park Library

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with this event Saturday at Kensington Park Library from 1 to 3 p.m. First, learn salsa with a free 45 minute lesson. Then dance to the live music by Grupo Fenix from 2 to 3 p.m. Learn more here.

Rockville Farmers Market
Jury Parking Lot, Rockville

The farmers market in Rockville is open every Saturday through Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn more here.
The market takes place in the jury parking lot on the corner of Rt. 28 and Monroe Street.

Sunday, September 22

Pumpkin Festival
Butler’s Orchard

Butler’s Orchard has offered pumpkin picking fun for more than 40 years. Customers may pick their own pumpkin for .75 cents per pound or buy a pre-picked pumpkin. The annual Pumpkin Festival features hayrides, live music, corn hole games, mazes, and more from now through Nov. 3. Admission starts at $11 per person.  Learn more and register here.

Health & Harvest Festival
Bender JCC of Greater Washington, Rockville

The Coming of Age in Maryland (CoA) and Early Childhood Center (ECC) are hosting the 3rd annual Health and Harvest Fair at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington in Rockville on Sunday. The free event will feature a variety of wellness activities, live music, and movement sessions, including Zumba, a drum circle, and a Taylor Swift tribute show. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for a chance to win raffle prizes, including an Apple iPad. The event is open to the public and will take place outdoors. Drum Circle
Sandy Spring Museum

Experience the power of drum therapy to connect with other cultures Sunday from 4-5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and express themselves regardless of their drumming experience.
