Police Sgt. Patrick Kepp received awards this week for his work combatting drunk and drugged driving.
He accepted two awards Wednesday from the Maryland Highway Safety Office for his achievements in 2022, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
In October last year, Kepp lost both of his legs in the line of duty, when he was allegedly targeted and struck by a a suspected drunk driver while setting up stop sticks on the highway. Last month, MCM visited Kepp at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to hear his story — “I was just doing my job,” he said.
The police department stated Kepp received the DUI award for the sixth time and the DRE award for the fifth time.
