The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection will re-open the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station this Friday to accept waste from residents and businesses countywide.
“We appreciate the patience of our residents throughout this period as we were modifying our hours in line with the state and the county’s stay at home mandates,” said Cindy Pena, a spokesperson with the department.
The center will remain open between 7 a.m and 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, with access from both facility entrances. Customers can use the Route 355 entrance between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Beginning tomorrow, @MyGreenMC will resume normal operations at the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station. However, customers using the facility must continue to practice social distancing and wear face coverings. Details: https://t.co/iqEqf6EI7o pic.twitter.com/b7RNRDrp3c

Earlier this year, the department shortened operation hours in an effort to shield both residents and employees from COVID-19 exposure. The reopening comes amid County Executive Marc Elrich’s Phase I reopening plan, which began May 28.
All customers should continue to practice social distancing and wear coverings while using the facility.
