For 52 years and counting, Sherwood High School has hosted its “Rock ‘n Roll Revival,” where students perform setlists of music dating back to the 1950s.
According to MCPS, a lot of effort is needed to make the show happen. Before opening night, cast members perfect all 40 songs of the show, along with the dancers for each act. Sherwood’s staff works to organize, plan, and direct the show. Teachers and alumni worked as choreographers, costume designers, and managers. Also to be credited are the 80 parent volunteers who built and broke down the sets, provided food for the cast, and ran concessions.
The musical featured a wide variety of music from the years leading up to 2023. “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns and Roses, “Heatwave” by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer, were just a few of the many performances of the Rock ‘n Roll show.
This is always a fabulous event and this year was no exception. The energy was electric. I really enjoyed every single performance. Job well done students, staff and volunteers! @SherwoodPTSA @mocoboe https://t.co/jGedVTDKUe

Annually, the show attracts more and more attention. Students became more involved this year with the revival, as 250 people made up the cast.
With a crowd of 6,000, Sherwood’s colorful sets, talented production, and behind-the-scenes efforts were not overlooked. The school also earned thousands of dollars in ticket sales, which go directly to the school’s music department.
