Maurice Ricks, of Washington, D.C., was charged with attempted second-degree murder of an adult male in connection with a shooting on Jan. 1 in the 8500 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County Police investigated a report of a shooting at 6 p.m. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
According to police, Ricks, 28, was arguing with the victim when he drew a gun and shot him.
Ricks was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and use of a firearm during a violent felony.
Ricks was arrested on Jan. 13 by the U.S. Marshals Service in Washington D.C. He is in custody in D.C. awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
