
Carl Otis Lowery, 56, of Silver Spring, was arrested and charged in connection with a series of commercial robberies in Montgomery County and surrounding jurisdictions.
According to an investigation by Montgomery County Police detectives, Lowery entered a Chipotle in the 10500 block of Connecticut Avenue on Jan. 28. He ordered food, showed a handgun and demanded that an employee open the cash register.
When the employee did not, Lowery left the restaurant.
A few hours later, Lowery entered Advanced Auto Parks in the 2280 block of Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring and sought help for an item. Lowery then approached the counter, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. He ordered the employees to the back of the store before leaving with the money.
On Feb. 4 at 7:18 p.m., Lowery entered a Montgomery County Liquor Store in the 11400 block of Georgia Avenue, walked up to the counter, showed a handgun and ordered an employee to open the cash register. He stole money and left, according to police.
During an investigation, Lowery was linked to multiple other armed robberies in the area during January and February.
He was arrested Feb. 13 at Atwood Court in Silver Spring and was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is currently being held without bond.
Lowery is charged with four counts of felony robbery.
His bail hearing is set for Feb. 18, and his preliminary hearing will be on March 14.
