A Silver Spring man was killed in a hit-and-run Tuesday after police said a suspect entered his car in Washington, D.C.
33-year-old Rakesh Patel was pronounced dead at a hospital, per a release from Metropolitan Police. According to police, at about 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, a suspect entered Patel’s unoccupied car on Vernon Street in Northwest D.C. The suspect struck Patel while trying to flee in the car, and then drove away.
Patel was a Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) fellow at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
“He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched,” reads a statement from the hospital center. “Please keep Dr. Patel’s family and peers in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead.”
Patel’s vehicle has been recovered and police released surveillance video in asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects.
