Jordan Tropf of Silver Spring is no stranger to competing in marathons. Over the weekend, the seasoned runner finished fourth overall in the annual Marine Corps Marathon.
Tropf’s official time was 2:29:47 with a 5:34 min/mile pace during the 26.2 mile competition. This all came just four years after winning the Marine Corps Marathon in 2019 with a 2:27:43 time.
Tropf ranked first out of 1,192 males in the 30-34 year old division.
“For me every step of preparing for a race is enjoyable,” Tropf told MCM last year. “So from the training, kind of getting those miles in, for me that’s relaxing. That’s how I relax after work and kind of decompress from the day.”
Tropf has been running since high school when his team won the state championship meet for his high school in Cleveland, Ohio. Just last year, the 30-year-old competed in three marathons in as many days.
He came in second in the Baltimore Running Fest last Oct. 9 with a 2:27:24 time, 63rd overall in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with a 2:31:54 time the day after and then 110th overall in the Boston Marathon with a 2:32:40 time to round out his three days of running.
Tropf attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis where he joined the marathon club as a lieutenant. He is currently working through his six-year residency at Johns Hopkins University Medical School.
