A Silver Spring resident won the top $50,000 prize from the Maryland Lottery $50,000 Cash ticket he bought in mid-May. He purchased the $20 ticket after accidentally choosing the scratch-off for the $50,000 Cash game from the machine instead of his usual weekly ticket.
The man’s job as a construction worker requires strong attention to detail, so he criticized himself for the mistake. However, after seeing the prize, he couldn’t believe it was true, he told Lottery officials in a press release. The ticket was sold at Metro Coffee Convenience located at 202 Park Road in Rockville. The business will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
