County Executive Marc Elrich and Councilmember Kate Stewart were joined by the community Saturday to dedicate the new Gene Lynch Urban Park.
Eugene “Gene” Lynch was a “Planning Board commissioner, who also was a civic leader and political activist,” according to a press release. He also served as a chief of staff to the former Gov. Parris Glendening. Lynch was a Silver Spring resident who died in 2008. Members of his family were also in attendance at the dedication.
The 0.25-acre triangular park is located at 8410 Colesville Road in Silver Spring across the road from the Silver Spring Metro Station. It is a vibrant grassy area with plants, bench swings and other furnishings surrounding it. It can be used for events and activities, according to the press release.
