A Silver Spring resident became $100,000 richer playing a scratch-off lottery ticket recently.
The 55-year old Silver Spring man picked up his winnings at Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore earlier this week, according to a news release. He won the money playing the $100,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off game with a ticket he purchased at Hillandale Beer & Wine in Silver Spring.
He told officials he plays the lottery daily, but until now his biggest prize was $500.
“I cried a lot when I saw I had a match,” he said. “It was amazing.”
And what will he do with his winnings? The construction worker, who is married with two children, plans to put most of the money in the bank. He might take a trip to El Salvador to visit family members.
The Hillandale Beer & Wine store in Silver Spring will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
