Silver Spring Store Owner Charged with Multiple Assaults

56-year-old Jose Melvin Mendoza has been charged with multiple counts of inappropriate touching, according to a press release by the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD).

Mendoza owns the Passion Bakery Cafe on Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring. His arrest comes after an investigation into multiple reports of assaults during business hours.

Several victims reported incidents at the bakery to the members of the Fourth District Patrol Investigations. Following an investigation an arrest warrant was issued for Mendoza.

He has been charged with 13 counts of second-degree assault as well as several other charges of inappropriate contact.

Mendoza is currently out on an unsecured personal bond. Investigators urge anyone who has not yet come forward as a victim to contact detectives at the Fourth District Unit at 240-773-5476.
