Six Flags America, located in Woodmore, MD, has implemented a new chaperone policy. Under this policy, all guests 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to remain in or be admitted to the park after 4 p.m. to closing time. The policy went into effect July 26.
The theme park cited “increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior” at amusement parks and other major entertainment venues over the past few years as a reason for the change, according to a statement on its website.
After presenting a valid government-issued photo identification at entry, chaperones are required to stay with their party during entry, remain inside the park during their visit and be available by phone throughout their stay. The policy states that one individual may chaperone a maximum of ten guests per day.
Guests ages 15 years old or younger who are found inside the park unaccompanied by a chaperone may be removed from the park.
“We believe these changes will help ensure that Six Flags America continues to have a positive atmosphere where generations of families and friends can gather for a day of safe fun and good food,” Six Flags America stated on their website. “Millions of guests have counted on us for exactly that, and we will continue to deliver on that promise for generations to come.”
