Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) elect Arvin Kim will be sworn in as the 45th SMOB next Friday, July 8.
The rising Walt Whitman High School senior will serve during the 2022-2023 school year, as elected with 58.7% of the vote in the April 2022 election.
The SMOB serves as a voting member of the County Board of Education and can vote on issues regarding collective bargaining, capital and operating budgets and school closings, reopenings and boundaries, MCPS details.
Kim will be sworn in at Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville at 4 p.m. by Montgomery County Clerk of the Court Karen A. Bushell. He will succeed Hana O’Looney, a 2022 Richard Montgomery High School graduate.
