Maryland State Police (MDSP) investigate a possible police impersonator in Montgomery County.
MDSP received a call reporting a suspicious car on I-270 at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to a police news release. The caller reported someone driving a tan Chevrolet Malibu was activating red and blue lights to move vehicles off the road. A witness told investigators they were driving north on I-270 in the Middlebrook Road area when they encountered the suspect driver, who was driving aggressively and had red and blue lights activated on the car’s front and rear. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu briefly followed the witness before going into the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane and driving away.
Police said there were no reports of the driver trying to pull over others. Troopers found the car and spoke to a person of interest, however no charges have been filed at this time.
Investigators ask the public to please contact the Rockville Barrack at 301-424-2101 if they witnessed this vehicle engaged in any unusual activity. This incident remains under investigation.
