The county State’s Attorney’s Office unveiled a new data dashboard as well as a racial justice report on Thursday.
Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said the goal ultimately is transparency.
McCarthy said the county State’s Attorney’s Office is the first in the state to launch this type of dashboard, and now four other jurisdictions are doing the same: Baltimore City and Prince George’s, Frederick and Charles counties.
The dashboard is meant to “provide a clearer view into the work of our office and how the criminal justice system operates in our community,” per a release.
“I’m not losing sight of the fact it is important to keep you safe in your homes and your families safe, I know that’s what you want us to do. At the same time, we want to tell you and give you a closer look at how we go about doing that,” McCarthy said.
