Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee hosted a tribute: We are Martin, honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and heroes of The Civil Rights Movement featuring a special guest performance by three-time Grammy Award-nominated Sweet Honey in the Rock.
We Are Martin emphasized that all of us, everyday people, have some of the same attributes ascribed to Dr. King within each of us. Determination, Perseverance, Compassion, and Courage; four qualities that Dr. King illustrated and lived in his role as the conscious of the nation and leader of the Civil Rights Movement, according to the Strathmore website.
