Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is planning menus for the next academic year.
On Wednesday, middle and high school students taste-tested 20 recipes at the MCPS Division of Food and Nutrition Services in Gaithersburg.
Students tried out the new recipes and gave feedback through an online survey, which will help the school system develop a menu.
They tried meals like chicken lo mein, Mandarin orange chicken banh mi, Thai-style chicken and rice bowls, Korean BBQ chicken, Korean meatball rice bowls, tortellini antipasto salad, black bean burgers, birria tacos, baja fish tacos, beef and queso flatbread, chicken and waffle sandwiches, sunrise egg tacos, street corn casserole, plant-based “chicken” primavera and buffalo chicken dip.
According to MCPS, this is the second annual “The Taste of MCPS – Menu Concept Taste Test for Students.” And last September, a focus group of middle and high school students taste-tested new vegan recipes to provide feedback.
