The University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism released its first Maryland Local News Ecosystem Study Friday.
The study highlights the entire local news landscape in the state of Maryland, broken down by county. Initial research began in 2023.
Montgomery County has 17 local news outlets within its borders, second only to Baltimore County, according to the study.
Here’s what they had to say about us – “[MCM’s] website is rich in daily bylined journalistic content on everything from schools to arts to content in Spanish, as well as links to community television programming,” the report reads.
The study erroneously refers to this site as “Montgomery County Media,” a situation we have corrected since the publishing of the report.
The report includes a landscape assessment; a content analysis; a comprehensive survey of editors and news directors regarding their needs, challenges, staffing and finances; and thumbnail descriptions of each local news outlet in Maryland.https://t.co/HfeP6Qvqgw pic.twitter.com/3ycBQqBnX7
