
Montgomery County police have arrested a Suitland man in connection with a shooting that occurred early on the morning of Nov. 3, 2024, in a Silver Spring parking lot.
Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section charged 36-year-old Michael Brown with firing a gun in an urban area.
The incident took place on November 3, 2024, at approximately 3:54 a.m. in a parking lot at 8200 Georgia Avenue. According to police, Brown was sitting in his vehicle when he saw officers responding to a call with their lights and sirens activated. Brown then got out of his vehicle and fired four shots into the air before driving away.
Police released the following video of the suspect firing the gun in the air.
Officers heard the gunfire and found shell casings at the scene. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and identified Brown as the suspect. Police said Brown is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant, and on March 26, they took Brown into custody in Suitland. During the arrest, officers found a loaded and unregistered handgun in his backpack.
Brown was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
