Superintendent Taylor Debuts Parody Video on Snow Day Procedures

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) announced updates to its winter weather procedures Tuesday, including a new color-coded status system to streamline communication about weather-related schedule changes. The system aims to provide clear and concise updates to families.

Decisions on closures or delays are made using expert input and local assessments.

As part of the announcement, Superintendent Thomas Taylor released a parody video about snow day procedures. In the video, the superintendent is seen walking down a hallway with a red briefcase, accompanied by on-screen text reading “coming this winter.”

The video humorously depicts school district employees discussing the process of closing schools and preparing announcements for families. It concludes with staff urging the superintendent to press a button to close schools, ending with the question, “Are you ready?” The video has 5,300 views as of this writing.
