To accommodate the growing number of students, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will open two new high schools in 2027: Crown High School in Gaithersburg and Charles W. Woodward High School in Rockville.
They also plan to expand facilities at Damascus High School. The study results could impact thousands of students currently in middle and high school by changing where they attend. To help parents and students understand what it may mean for them, School Superintendent Thomas Taylor recorded this video.
Plans for the studies were approved by previous superintendents. Right now, Charles W. Woodward High School houses students from Northwood High School whose old building is being remodeled. Expansion at Damascus High School will help alleviate anticipated overflow of students at Clarkburg High School.
