When presented with an oversized $10,000 check Friday, Jinhee Wilde of Potomac seemed more confused than excited.
Turns out the founder of the immigration law firm WA Law Group in Rockville didn’t realize that every time she played Wordmania on the Publishers Clearing House’s website, she actually was entering a sweepstakes.
Dave Sayer, executive director of the Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol, flew in from Florida and greeted Wilde at her office, his hands filled with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of champagne and balloons, and of course, the oversized check.
She accepted the gifts, exclaiming, “I never win anything. I see that guy on TV, and I say, ‘Ah, that never works.'”
Publishers Clearing House has awarded more than half a billion dollars in prizes, using revenue from its multi-magazine subscription agency.
