A Germantown man has been charged with attemped first degree murder in connection with a fight and shooting in Rockville Town Square July 15.
Najee Emani Hardy-Estwick, 23, was arrested July 19. His preliminary hearing will be Aug. 19.
Rockville City Police went to the 100 block of Gibbs Street at 1:45 a.m. on July 15 after learning of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim, who had been shot three times. He is recovering from non-life threatening injuries in an area hospital, according to police.
Hardy-Estwick also is charged with First Degree Assault Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Firearm and other firearm related offenses.
According to police, the events started with a verbal dispute between two people who know each other. It escalated into a physical fight, and then the suspect allegedly took out a handgun and fired it. He then fled.
