Takoma Park Begins Red Light Camera Enforcement

Takoma Park Police Department is launching a red-light camera enforcement program to reduce accidents caused by red light violations.

Beginning Monday, police will begin issuing warning notices to drivers who do not stop at red lights. The warning period will last a month, and then citations will be issued.

Effective Sept. 30, warning notices will be issued at these intersections:
• Eastbound Philadelphia Avenue at Piney Branch Road
• Northbound Piney Branch Road at Philadelphia Avenue
• Southbound Piney Branch Road at Philadelphia Avenue

Effective Sept. 30, warning notices will be issued at these intersections:
• Southbound New Hampshire Avenue at Glenside Drive
• Northbound New Hampshire Avenue at Erskine Street

On Oct. 7, warning notices will be issued at these locations:
• Northbound New Hampshire Avenue at Holton Lane
• Southbound New Hampshire Avenue at Ethan Allen Avenue

The fine for an automated red-light violation is $75. No points are added to a driver’s license.
