For the fifth time since March, vandals burglarized Grace United Methodist Church in Takoma Park.
In the most recent incident, suspects entered the church through the front door at 7001 New Hampshire Avenue during the night of July 28, according to Takoma Park Police. The suspect, or suspects, entered several rooms inside the church and left them in disarray.
Police are unsure if anything was stolen.
The church, which is located in Ward 2, also was broken into sometime between July 23 at 4 p.m. and July 24 at 9:35 a.m., according to police. The suspect entered through a broken window. Nothing appeared to be stolen, according to police.
The suspect was seen fleeing the church.
Vandals previously broke into the church on March 19, June 24 and another time this month.
The church is mostly vacant. There are signs for two other churches as well as a business on the property, but the phone numbers listed for the churches were not in service. The number for the business did not accept messages.
When a MCM reporter visited the property, one man was asleep near a side entryway.
Vandals also broke into another church. According to police, sometime between July 26 at 2 p.m. and July 27 at noon, a suspect broke into Word of Life Gospel Church in the 1300 block of Holton Lane. Property was disturbed and thrown around the church, according to police.
