The City of Takoma Park is hosting its annual Monster Bash on Saturday. The event kicks off at 1 p.m. in the Takoma Park Middle School Parking Lot with dancing and festivities. The event will end with a costume contest and awards.
A Trunk-Or-Treat event will be featured as a part of the Monster Bash. Businesses and non-profits can participate and decorate the trunk of their vehicles and hand out treats to kids as they walk by. To reserve a space, email ChelseaN@takomaparkmd.gov
The Takoma Park Recreation Department staff is looking for volunteers to serve at the event. Opportunities include judging the costume parade, working games and handing out snacks. Interested volunteers can register through Montgomery Serves or call 301-891-7290.
Piney Branch Road from Takoma Park Middle School to Philadelphia Avenue will have a rolling street closure from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and will reopen once all parade participants have cleared the roadway.
The intersections of Chestnut Avenue/Grant Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue/Piney Branch Road, Philadelphia Avenue/Chestnut Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue/Holly Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue/Birch Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue/Cedar Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue/Old Philadelphia Avenue and will have rolling closures between 12pm – 4pm.
Some residents will not be able to exit their neighborhood while streets are closed for the parade (Hodges Lane, Chestnut Avenue, Holly Avenue, Darwin Avenue and Grant Avenue).
Attendees should look for parking signs in the Community Center back parking lot and along Maple Avenue between Philadelphia and Lee Avenue.
Ride-On and Metro bus services will also be interrupted between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the afore mentioned streets.
In case of inclement weather, the Monster Bash will be moved inside Takoma Park Middle School.
