Marcus Riggs, 36, was charged with assault and theft in connection with a robbery at the 7-11 on Merrimac Drive in Ward 6 of Takoma Park.
On March 22 at 11:22 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to a call about a theft in progress. According to police, Riggs, of Takoma Park, stole items and assaulted an employee before fleeing on foot.
Riggs was caught and the items were returned to the convenience store. He is free on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond.
His trial is set for May 5.
