Takoma Park Police appointed Corporal Cindia Torres as its LGBTQ Liaison.
She will be responsible for fostering understanding, trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the LGBTQ community and is the direct contact person for law enforcement and community issues and concerns members of the LGBTQ community have.
Torres, who speaks both English and Spanish, also will work with victims of reported hate crimes as they navigate the criminal justice system.
