Takoma Park police officers are investigating an assault that took place at the Sunoco gas station in the 6900 block of New Hampshire Avenue Saturday at 1 a.m.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim, who had been hit over the head with an unknown object. The victim was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
According to police, the victim exited a Metro bus by Larch and New Hampshire avenues when he was approached by a man he did not know. The man was wearing a black face mask, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants with colorful shoes. An altercation then occurred, police said.
The suspect fled on foot and has not been located.
