The Takoma Park Police Department helps city residents keep their home safe when away for vacation. The Vacant House Check program is a crime prevention tool that offers free service to city residents who are away for four to 30 days.
A Takoma Park Police Officer visits the home daily looking for any signs of suspicious activity.
Only single-family homes, duplexes and townhouses are eligible for the program.
City residents may learn more about the program on the Takoma Park Police website. If interested, residents can call the police department at 301-270-1100 to register or complete an online application. The police need the dates the home is vacant, vehicles parked in the driveway, and emergency notification information.
