Maryland Task Force 1 returned to Rockville Monday morning after assisting Kentucky flood victims.
The Task Force consisted of 45 people, including several from Montgomery County. The emergency personnel helped rescue stranded residents from high waters and assisted in many other ways, according to Doug Hinkle, Task Force leader.
The team worked together with emergency workers from Georgia and Vermont in several cities in Kentucky along the Green River.
While on a supply run, a few members of the task force came across a house fire. They jumped into action and rescued the family and pets. They controlled the scene until local firefighters arrived.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) enlisted the Task Force.
