On Tuesday afternoon, Montgomery County Police arrested and charged a teen following multiple vehicle collisions and a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle in Chevy Chase.
Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Demontre Satterwhite-Walker of South East Washington, D.C., who faces charges including first-degree assault, as well as numerous traffic offenses.
Authorities say officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle shortly before 4:00 p.m. at Leland Street and 46th Street.
The victim, a food delivery driver, told police that he left his car running on the street before Walker entered the vehicle and drove away.
When responding officers located the stolen car a short time later, police say the initial officer approached the vehicle, and Walker intentionally rammed the officer’s cruiser before leaving the scene. While engaged in the pursuit, authorities say the suspect later rammed another police cruiser and damaged six civilian vehicles.
Police say Walker eventually lost control of the car and overturned in the area of East-West Highway and Washington Avenue, where he got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. He was later apprehended following a brief foot pursuit and taken into custody.
According to police, Walker also faces potential charges of motor vehicle theft, unauthorized removal of a vehicle, theft between $1,500 and $25,000, rogue and vagabond charges.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and authorities say this investigation remains active and ongoing.
