Quincy Jones, 19, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to multiple burglaries and stolen cars incidents in Takoma Park.
Jones was arrested on June 13, 2022, and charged with the following crimes:
- Auto theft and theft at the 7200 block of Spruce Avenue
- First degree burglary at the 7100 block of Carroll Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 500 block of Albany Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 200 block of Philadelphia Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 7100 block of Poplar Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 7500 block of Holly Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 6700 block of Gude Avenue
- First degree burglary, auto theft and theft at the 500 block of Boston Avenue
Jones, who was charged with a theft scheme and conspiracy, has been in custody awaiting trial.
On Nov. 22, 2022, he pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy to commit burglary in the first degree and one count of conspiracy to a theft scheme of more than $100,000.
He was sentenced Jan. 10 to five years, with all of that time suspected except for 18 months and was given credit for the time he served awaiting trial. After he is released, he must serve three years of supervised probation.
For the past two months, Takoma Park Police officers have been investigating many residential burglaries that involved the victims’ vehicles being stolen.
Detectives have recovered several of the vehicles, with help from the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
