Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for March 22
Since Friday, March 19, the Maryland Department of Health has reported 307 new cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County — 119 Saturday, 97 Sunday and 91 Monday. The county’s cumulative case count is 65,596.
The county most recently reported on March 21 that 101 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County recorded one new coronavirus-related fatality since Friday, March 19 — one Saturday and none Sunday and Monday — bringing the death toll to 1,410.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.71% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.14 from Sunday’s average rate of 2.85%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 18 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities (1,410) but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,344 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 76,481 cases.
Somerset County on the Eastern Shore has the highest per capita cases with 95.5 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 91.8 cases per 1,000 residents.

Since Friday, March 19, the state recorded 2,807 new infections — 1,118 Saturday, 1,007 Sunday, and 682 Monday. The state’s cumulative case count is 400,705.
On Monday, the state reported 866 patients were hospitalized across the state with the virus. COVID-19 related hospitalizations have been rising. However, since March 1 they continue to be below 900.
Maryland recorded 52 new coronavirus-related fatalities since Friday, March 19 — 26 Saturday, 12 Sunday and 14 Monday — bringing the death toll to 7,999.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 4.37% for positive COVID-19 tests Monday. This is a decrease of 0.03 from Sunday’s rate of 4.4%.
