Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for April 28

The Maryland Department of Health reported 96 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Wednesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 69,624.

Montgomery County recorded three new coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday, so the death toll rises to 1,475 which is the highest in the state.

As of April 19, there were 99 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Montgomery County.

As of Wednesday, 40 schools in the state are reporting two or more COVID-19 cases verified by testing. Of those 40 schools, one is located in Montgomery County. Rachel Carson Elementary School in Gaithersburg reports 2 cases.

The county has a rate of 2.05% for positive COVID-19 tests completed Tuesday, which is a decrease of 0.1 from Monday’s rate of 2.15%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than 21 of the 24 jurisdictions in Maryland.

With 1,475 fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 82,663 cases and 1,412 fatalities. Baltimore County has the third most cases and the second-highest number of fatalities in the state with 63,042 cases and  1,427 fatalities.

Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita with 99 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 96.6 cases per 1,000 residents.

 

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics for April 28

Wednesday the state recorded 1,002 new infections bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 445,493.

There are currently 1,093 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Wednesday morning. Since Wednesday, April 21 the number of Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19 has been decreasing.

Twenty newly reported deaths were recorded Wednesday, bringing the state death toll to 8,521.

The state reported  3.89% of tests completed Tuesday were positive for COVID-19. This is a decrease of 0.15 from Monday’s rate of 4.04%.
