Things to Know About Presidential Inauguration on Monday

The presidential inauguration of Donald Trump is Monday, coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The county’s police department is involved with the event in Washington, D.C., and will send “a small contingent” of officers, according to Police Chief Marc Yamada. County Fire and Rescue personnel will also assist during the inauguration.

The swearing-in ceremony starts at noon and major broadcast stations will livestream the event.

On Inauguration Day, Metro will open at 4 a.m. Monday and close at midnight. According to to Metro, six stations will be closed: McPherson Square, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, Mt. Vernon Sq.-Convention Center, Archives-Navy Memorial, and Pentagon stations. Trains will bypass those stations for security reasons.

Some roads in the event area will be closed to all traffic on Monday. Residents can see inauguration traffic restrictions here.
