A Silver Spring resident was arrested in connection with an Aug. 21, 2022 stabbing near the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Reedie Drive in Wheaton.
Jose Ingles Mendez, 30, is the third and final person arrested in connection with the beating and stabbing that left a victim with life-threatening injuries, according to Montgomery County Police.
Previously arrested were Kevin Vargas Gomez, 20, and Heidy Gomez Rodriguez, 36.
According to police, Vargas Gomez and Ingles Mendez approached a man in the 2400 block of Reed Drive and began punching him. They then hit him with a bottle, causing it to break, police said.
The victim escaped and ran toward Georgia Avenue. The two suspects chased him and continued punching and kicking him, police said. The two suspects were then picked up by Gomez Rodriguez, who drove them away from the scene.
Ingles Mendez was arrested May 26 by Rockville City Police. He was charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second degree murder, first degree assault and second degree assault. He is being held without bond.
Gomez Rodriguez was arrested Oct. 27, 2022 and charged with conspiracy to attempt first degree murder, conspiracy to attempt second degree murder, conspiracy of assault in the first degree and second degree assault.
Vargas Gomez was arrested Oct. 12, 2022 and charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
