Soon after dealing with what turned out to be an unfounded threat at Whitman High School, students at Bethesda Elementary School were placed in lockdown as Montgomery County Police officers investigated a threat at that school and also declared that threat unfounded.
The two schools are about two miles apart.
Whitman students were evacuated at around 1 p.m. Following a search of the building in Bethesda, police determined the threat was unfounded, and students were returned to classes.
Police declared Bethesda Elementary School all clear by 2 p.m.
